SAK’s Register on Parliamentary Election Candidates
4 Purpose and basis for processing personal data
SAK uses the personal data for contacting parliamentary election candidates.
The register contains personal data about those individuals who have been elected as candidates in parliamentary elections as well as their campaign managers or persons responsible for their campaign teams.
5 Data content of the register
SAK’s Register on Parliamentary Election Candidates contains data that the user has submitted to SAK or that have been obtained as described in Section 6.
The data processed in the Register on Parliamentary Election Candidates may include, for example, the following:
- first name and surname
- trade union membership
- party affiliation
- candidacy in Finnish elections
- status or professional title
- e-mail address
- telephone number
- street address
- postal code
- post office
- name and contact details of the campaign manager or the contact person of the campaign
- contacts with the individual and the results (responded/did not respond/gave their consent to join the election gallery/refused to join the election gallery).
6 Regular data sources
The personal data are obtained from the participants themselves on the basis of separate consent or from public sources of information (such as the website of the candidate or party).
7 Regular disclosures of data
The personal data in SAK’s Register on Parliamentary Election Candidates are not disclosed to outsiders.
8 Transfer of data outside the EU or the EEA
The data is not transferred outside the EU or the EEA.
9 Retention period of personal data
SAK retains the personal data as long as it is necessary for carrying out the purposes described in Section 4. When SAK no longer needs the collected personal data, the data are erased securely.
10 Register protection principles
SAK adheres to data security and the protection of personal data systematically in all its data use and processing. SAK processes all personal data securely and in accordance with legislation.
The data in the register is only used by SAK’s employees who need them in their duties and in accordance with their access rights. The users are bound by confidentiality.
SAK ensures contractually that its partners and service providers process the data according to valid legislation.
11 Right of access
Article 15 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 provides that a data subject is entitled to access personal data concerning themselves, meaning the right to inspect the said data.

12 Right to rectification and right to erasure
The participant has the right to inspect, rectify and erase any information contained in the register about themselves as necessary. 13 Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Article 77 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 provides that a data subject is entitled to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman if they believe that the GDPR has been infringed in the processing of personal data.

SAK may change this privacy statement from time to time. If this privacy statement changes significantly, we declare this prominently as required by applicable legislation. We recommend that you review this privacy statement from time to time to be aware of any changes.
